The White Tunic Dress – STYLING Please!

Because I bought this  cream tunic dress recently – ASOS Pleated Long Sleeve Shift Dress - £40.00, I really wanted to find some visual inspirations for the white/beige dress and how you can style it. The white tunic dress can be an excellent piece when you want to dress up and make a statement but at the same time not go too far. It can be quite a glamorous piece of clothing if you understand the whole ballance of the outfit. What you can do is to focus either on the dress and style it in such manner so that it is the central piece of the outfit, or use the dress as a basic and dress it up with statement accessories or jackets. You can see more of these outfits below.

Photo from The Sartorialist – I like that this look is so casual so but very chic. The Khaki parka is such a cool piece to style and wear around the city. I strongly consider that this look is stunning with practically any trench-coat :) ) and some chic gold/leather accessories.

In this case the highlighted piece of the outfit is the pair of over the knee black boots! You can tell instantly that the dress and even the jacket are just supporting items and are not the lead actors on the outfit. Simple yet very powerful, I like it!

Not exactly a tunic dress, rather more of a shirt dress, but I really love this outfit from Copenhagen Street Style . I think the main focus in this look are the accessories. The black and white mix is never out of fashion so I think it is very easy to have this sort of an outfit set up and matched with cool urban accessories.

This is the most glamorous tunic dress outfit that I’ve found!! White fur, over the knee black boots and a clutch?! This shouts cocktail attire to me :) ) However, you can see that the entire look is melted down by the simple and chic dress. I think if this girl would have picked a fitted sexy dress it have been so over the top! But like this, it’s amazing! Photo from: Stockholm Street Style

This outfit is not the most creative or highly styled, except that it is Diane Kruger :) ) and this dress she has on! I really like the fabric and shape because it gives a structure and a lovely silhouette. Pairing it with ballet flats is such an excellent choice for any daytime look and again the minimal accessories equal high impact on the dress. She gets extra points for this ;)

Which one do you love the most?

Helsinki Street Style

A nice walk around one of the coolest capitals in Europe – both in attitude and in temperature :D -  made me look around at what are the must haves when visiting this city. Helsinki girls’ are chic but comfortable, they tend to layer a lot and all have the ultimate winter item : the scarf. Leather and jeans jackets are also very popular, most of them black and cropped and worn with longer tops and skinny jeans.

Regarding shoes, ballet flats are still an option but as it is starting to get colder, booties are very popular. Most of them are rock or boho-inspired and have studs or country details.

Let me know which one you like the most! ;-)

Long cardigans paired with summer-ish dresses are a nice way of drifting into autumn. Dresses can make your look a bit more feminine and relaxed and they the best reminder that you can look stylish even in the colder season. Just add a cardigan and a cool scarf to keep you warm and cosy!

Say hello to country boots! Even though I haven’t worn them for a few seasons, I think that these girls can still rock the country boots. Most of them paired them with leggings and a longer sweater.

These harem pants were probably the only ones I saw in Helsinki, most probably because they are more of a summer look, but I really liked the way this girl mixed color and pattern, very modern and eclectic.

I saw this girl in a shop and I couldn’t help myself taking her photo. Her outfit was probably one of the chic-est I’ve seen in Helsinki. Short leather pants and animal printed ballet flats! So cool!

Why do we all love stripes?

I know I swore to stay away from stripes and all those navy sailor-inspired looks, but I am slowly starting to enjoy this trend. There are are some limits of course, but I have to admit that there are some options that are way better than the copy-pasted images I keep seeing everywhere, from shops and window displays to all-striped outfits on girls in my office!

The key is to set yourself apart from the main-stream options. Try to choose not so commercial items and spice them up with fresh accessories. Right now, I am really mad about the Chanel – shape cardigan. What do you guys think?

Casual Look - striped cardigan

Cardigan: Aubin & Wills’ caramel and red-striped cashmere-blend cardigan – net-a-porter, Top: Pearl Tank by ULLA JOHNSON – calypso-celle,  Shorts: Cuffed dark blue denim shorts Rock Revival – Metropark, Bracelets: Ethnic Charm Bangles – topshop, Pumps: YSL, Bag : Paul Smith,  Make-up: NARS from Sephora

Another style I really love is Katharine McPhee’s casual urban-look. Even though the striped tank is a simple common option, what makes it special is the white cropped jacket with rolled-up sleeves and the brown leather platforms/wedges.

Privileged Tv Series – Megan’s outfits

JoAnna Garcia plays the lovely Megan Smith in Privileged Tv series. Stylistically speaking she is not very complex but she has that sort of casual chic style that can bring up her personality. What I really noticed about her outfits was that the main focus is set on jeans and cardigans. I’ve watched carefully and I think she has cardigans in every colour!!

The jeans are usually dark and skinny but you can adapt them to your personal style. If you hate skinnies or you’re tired of them your can always go for flared ones. These are from Pacsun.com.

The cardigan can be embellished or simple and usually Megan wears them unbuttoned. Pick a longer one if you like the ruffled cardigan trend. This one is actually soldout on Forever21 but I found a new sequined cardigan.

Ballet flats are summer’s hot list items. Bold colors are really cool this season so what are you waiting for and wear your navy or pink flats. These are H&M but there are lots of flats out there that can work just try to keep them one color.

The bag is more of a functional thing for Megan so try to add something that highlights your outfit. I loved Karen Millen’s Tropical Bag because it’s perfect for this season and has the perfect mix of fabrics.

Jewelry is not so important for Megan but I noticed that she has a very simple and soft feather necklace. Unfortunately I wasn’t able to fing something similar but you can try anything vintage with a little charm pendant.

The skirtmust be high-waisted and you can choose from different trendy patterns of the season (florals, water collors) mixed with a tight tank. I’ve seen Megan with different color tanks (white, black, pink) and I can say that the simple top really gives her a comfy and sexy look.

The cardigan is a statement piece for the Privileged star so get comfy and romantic with this Shrug Knit.

The accessories complete the casual look so you can choose some leather strap detail flats that can be found at Boden or some beige sunglasses. I just loved the color of this leather tote and the fact that it kinda matches everything! You can wear a small bracelet or a watch, this one is from Gwen Stefani’s collection and it’s called The Sweet Escape.

Casual Outfits With Distressed Jeans

Hey girls! Today’s question is what would you go for when wearing the destroyed jeans trend. I love them with flats but I can’t stop staring at the heels.

Well, I think it depends on where you are going. For example, if you are on a shopping spree or you have a long day around town, you need to have something really comfy on or you’ll end up with painful legs.

The shoes – The patent ballet flats  are still cool this season. Navyis really stylish and it goes perfectly with lighter jeans. Love the little bow. (available on SimplyShoes.com )

The jeans – Straight, light distressed jeans for a casual look. You can bend them above the ankle to get the look of Katie Holmes or Sienna Miller.

The top- Pink-ish and nude shades are really hot this season so make sure you have them in your closet. Get 1 size larger top for extra glam.

The accessories – Go for golden tones and a nude tote if you want to ballance the whole outfit. You can also add some highlights with black bangles or a skinny belt.

For a smarter casual look pick coordinating accessories and keep your jeans darker. You can choose a blazer to highlight your style and waist as well as a tucked in top.

The shoesIridescent Pink Ruffle Flats from Monsoon make you feel very chic and the ruffles are so hot this season.

The jeans – These Skinny Loved Jean are some darker jeans that I love and they are just perfect to go out and enjoy a movie or a casual meeting. You can find them at La Garconne

The top - I love the embroidery on this Lace Cropped Top, it’s special and lace is really cool right now. This one is from Topshop.

The accessories – If you want to keep a more serious look try coordinated accessories like nudes and golden tones. I loved this collage bag from Barney’s and the D&G Gold Ring Earrings  which I found on eluxury.com

Oh and I almost forgot,

The Blazer - I really like this piece. It’s sort of on my wishlist. Calvin Klein Meghan cropped tuxedo has a really gracious style, makes you feel dressed up and sexy.

Best Outfits When Meeting His Parents

Hey girls!

Let’s say that you are at the point when you should meet your boyfriend’s parents. It’s stressful enough that you have to worry about all sorts of things like what to talk about and if they would like you, so I thought of giving you a few guidelines of how you should dress.

1.First of all, consider simplicity and charisma as your 2 best friends :) I know it has nothing to do with clothes so far but they should be the main starting tips.

2. You want to look fresh and well-dressed but not too glittering or eccentric. Don’t just forget about your style, but take it to a next level, a more serious one.

3. You need to give the impression that you’ve got good taste when choosing things so focus on accessories and try to let them tell a story about you (eg. some jewelry that was in your family for a long time or some special pins - they don’t need to be expensive but unique)

4. You should wear heels. I think you would stand straight and heels also make you make confident and aware of your qualities! I mean it!! It’s tested!

5. Don’t smile too much, don’t talk too much, try to say the right words. Answer questions or ask discreet questions if you want to know more information. Things should be relaxed, try to make them feel comfortable around you. Beauty products are essential here. Wear a classic perfume and natural makeup. Nobody likes to meet a faux-looking girl.

6. Don’t show too much skin. If you choose to wear a dress or a skirt, you shouldn’t choose a top with a big cleavage. Actually don’t choose to show a lot of cleavage whatsoever. Choose something with a classic cut.

7. Occasion is essential!!! Adapt your outfit for the time of day and location of the meeting.

There is the casual get-together where you would go out to lunch or for some drinks. Here you should try to wear comfortable and casual-chic clothes, improvise a bohemian look with a scarf or some hair accessories or try a nice look with some ankle boots and jeans.

meeting his parents

1.  Handbag – try something large and suitable for day, this one is Chloe available on BBS 2. Cool Casual ankle boots – these ones are from patent leather Charles David Mingle 3 A nice special top. You can find a wide range of decent unique tops on Forever21 or Oli 4. Skinny jeans – black or something conservative, no pockets, no boot-waist, remember keep skin off limits :D 5. Choose a coat with attitude, go for plaids or something with a good fit and nice buttons.

The Formal Outfit is definitely a more difficult one. Here all the details count and you should be careful not to forget something.

meeting his parents

The dress – You can choose a little black dress, or a more special dress. However, for evening-wear black remains a classic. The shoes - Select matching accessories and go for a beautiful pair of stilettos made from a silky fabric, these ones have a velvet bow.  Try to focus on quality of the pumps rather than on the price. The purse - should be a small clutch with a shinny look or embellished stones for an extra glam touch. The accessories  need to be discreet and matched with the attitude of the entire outfit. Choose vintage pearls or a pendant necklace.

Remember, parents have a big word on the way your relationship will grow, so you have to make a good impression. For more tips get informed here and here.

College /school clothes

Hey blogirls!

I keep trying to be cool and well dressed when I go out with my friends or when I have to meet with them for a project or some get-together. I thought of something nice and cool for this season, and I think I could really wear this.

College clothes

I would feel confortable in these amazing Chalyle chocolate brown boots from La Garconne(2), with a long loose orange jersey dress – Diane von Furstenberg from Net-a-Porter(1) and a Balenciaga Quilted leather jacket from Browns(4). I’d wear a knitted hat like this one from Topshop(3) or maybe some fancy copper sunglasses from Notcouture(9). I also love the accessories : the Grisogono Ring from Lussori(5) the hair accessories from Claires(7) or the antique necklace from Cut+Paste (8). Oh, and don’t forget about some makeup and a smart fragrance, both from Sephora.
