Winter 2010 has its own rules. And when it comes to nail-polish and lacquer trends, the season is jolly indeed

The main thing we need to consider this season is that innovation and experiment are new directions taken also by the beauty industry. It’s not just color and shine that are important, but also the texture of the nail-polish and nail lacquers. Besides the usual glossy and slick look, nails are taking 2 new finishes : MATTE and GLITTERY.

When you think about it, these finishes are quite the opposite: the  matte finish stands for classy and more of a softer look while glitter shouts party all the way! I particularly love the matte metallic tones. Silver and gold don’t stand a chance in the daylight if they aren’t matte. You can use the matte effect to dress down an edgy look and to give it a more friendly effect.

The other nail-polish trend for this winter is the glittery nail. Strong shades give the perfect jewel nail effect and they go perfectly with light colors and romantic looks.  For a festive look glitter nail-polish can be just the ingredient you needed! Gold and silver tones are full of whimsy and charm and they are the perfect choice for a homemade Christmas party. There are some risks, so you should be careful how you pair them, as Christmas trees are only in fashion for a short time and you don’t want to be looking like one

Rich and dark is the way to go normally throughout the cold season, but there are so many chic options out there. Some of the holiday offers include cool bags in which you have the essential colors for the holiday season. There is nothing more romantic and silent, more tranquil and serene that a foggy day in a vibrating city.  It’s funny when you think about it. How weather influences us so much, how we feel happier and lighter and how we can have more courage and good spirit when the sun is shining or when it’s snowing with big flakes. Today I left for work without being in a big hurry as always (!), so I had the time to dream of the perfect outfit.

I started with these amazing platform booties I have from Victor and Rolf. Even though the size of the platform is bigger the shape of the shoe is so comfortable and they are very cozy with that shearing detailing. You can find them online at La Garconne. The silky top is also from La Garconne, it’s by 3.1 Phillip Lim. I love loose tops, they remind me of Lauren Conrad’s style and they are so comfortable and 24h chic and I think they highlight you legs so much especially with skinny jeans or leather leggings. My jeans are from Helmut Lang and I’ve bought them on Net-a-porter. They were $195 but I think they are a very good purchase as I wear them so much, they are very versatile and they help me do the military look so well too.

For the Bag you can spice it up, go for a brighter shade or dress it down, my outfit was daytime oriented so I chose this DKNY lacquered quilted leather tote – you can check it out on Net-a-porter as well. They seem to be having all the cool pieces right?! The bracelet and the scarf are the fun pieces of this outfit. The scarf is vintage but the bracelet is Betsey Johnson – not on stock at the moment but have a look at their website…they have looots of stuff : Betsey Johnson.

All- beige looks have been very popular on the runways for spring 2010. Lots of designers have found inspiration in dreamy light pastel colors. For example, Both Vivienne Westwood and YSL has been focussing on this coutryside boho look as oposed to Antonio Berardi which uses nudes to focus and structure the romantic silhouettes. But let’s leave the all-beige look aside for now and admire the ACCESSORIES.

I have just discovered these Balmain Lace-Up Chiffon Booties and I have serious doubts about them! On one hand they seem versatile enough, because you can easily change and adapt that scarf so that it can match your outfit or reflect your style and I kinda like the whole “rock elegant” thing that leather and chiffon have together. But on the other hand, $1,075 for a sole with criss-cross straps? Kinda expensive right?

Rings can be a great way to catch the eyes fast. Our hands are constantly moving and explaining so people are generally focusing a lot on them. Statement necklaces are my favorite accessories this summer. Forget long simple pearl necklaces because they are over. This season we are talking about short and chunky. Go for metallic shades or neon floral necklaces and you’ll definitely feel the magic of summer !

Checked out Mango today and they have some stunning maxi dresses, actually lots of Mango dresses are quite hot I even tried on a couple and they are really amazing. Even if you are petite, you should try wearing a maxi dress at least once, because it has that special way of making you feel: casual and sexy.
