So NBC set up this cool show in which young and aspiring designers get to promote theier designs in front of buyers from Saks, Macy’s and H&M. The designs get manufactured by the retailers and sold in their shops and online shops. It’s cool that this show offers an opportunity for others to pursue their dream and work harder to get their designs out there.
I only saw the first episode so far, but I really loved the structured dress with cut-out back, now sold by H&M and the multi-functional skirt bought by Saks. Really cool! What’s interesting is that when these products get marketed via the retailers, the price points get adjusted accordingly. For example, the clothes on which H&M bid, are being sold with prices between 20 and $50, as oposed to the Saks skirt which is $280! That makes you think twice about the target audience of each retailer, right?
