SHINING TRENDS

I think you all know how details become essential when putting together an outfit or en event. Even if you have all the major pieces, you need to finish everything with a nice touch. When thinking about an outfit, the details can be the accessories or hair and make-up. For a bigger event, such as a wedding, the details can include the buffet, the floral arrangements or the wedding invitations.

At other previous weddings where I helped my friends who were getting married with planning, I used to go with the bride to local wedding stationery stores and order the invitations, but we were never very pleased of the range of options they had. Some of them didn’t come in other colors or they were simply too classic.

So this year, another friend of mine is getting married and this time we have found the perfect stylish invitations. She has everything planned in a fancy yet minimalist design, so we were searching for a special invitation design as well. We found amazing options of wedding invitations by David’s Bridal!

I really like that they have a wide selection of which you can choose from, and lots of cool styles. The ribbon and the arty typography designs are so chic and you can customize their color as well.

This season it’s all about reinventing your mother’s wardrobe and pulling out those dramatic, sensational 70s inspired looks. Prepare for freedom of the lines, vibrant colors, loose silhouettes, floral patterns, gold accents and lots of denim!

Marc Jacobs, Gucci, Mulberry, Halston or Diane von Fustenberg were all inspired by the 70s movement which they have applied on this season’s collections. Even if they emulated it on glamorous maxi skirts and dresses, sexy halter-neck jumpsuits, flared pants and jeans or wedges and platform sandals… the 70’s vibe is more present than ever.

You can feel it, it’s the empowerment of women, the glamour and the bold silhouette!  Back then it was all about the freedom of women and the feminist  movement. Starting the 50s with figures such as Eva Peron - the first woman President in Argentina, or  Indira Gandhi - Prime Minister of India and finally Margaret Thatcher, who made a mark among the key political women figures as the first woman Prime Minister of the UK. These all reflected the image of the women in the seventies and especially style.

But the 70s style most likely became big due to the music and movie star icons. All the legends were born or created in the 70s. Bands and stars such as ABBA, Bonnie M, Jimi Hendrix, Janis Joplin, Jackson 5, Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin or Queen …and many more have started to change everything. Rock, folk, jazz, country, pop, you name it!

Fashion-wise, I think you can make a distinction between the 2 decades of the 70s - The Hippie Style and the Rock Style. Spring-summer 2011 went for the glamour and the hippie-boho style.  Think Grey Gardens, Studio 54, Bianca Jagger Angelica Hudson, ABBA or stars like Faye Dunaway and Farah Fawcett – from the original Charlie’s Angels.

Took a nice walk yesterday around the green parts of my city and snapped a few pictures. I really like how when you are close to parks and nature, everything seems more optimistic and alive. I think we should always keep in mind that a short escape in the nature can do miracles for our mood and state of mind.

I am wearing my favorite maxi dress by Mango. I’ve bought this last year when somehow I found clothes at Mango more affordable. This year they have really positioned the products much higher than a fast fashion brand. Anyway, the flats are Zara and so is my cropped leather vest. …oh and I almost forgot about my addiction, the Prada sunglasses.

Mango chooses the elegant etiquette for their Fall 2011 collection and embellishes the lovely Isabeli Fontana with black, silver and gold accents. It is not a soft elegance, on the contrary, it is edgy and bold.

Leather, lace and sparkly fabrics make the fall 2011 - 2012 looks shine from the distance! I can even see a bit of disco and the old Hollywood glamour days…or nights :) The most interesting part of the fall 2011 trends is the way the tuxedo suit trend is presented in an antithesis with the feminine silhouettes and the sexy dresses.

Also, do note the pointy shoes and the 2 color the small heel pumps, also highlighted by silver or gold inserts. Another thing that I like is the dotted print! :D Cool stuff right!

This season you cannot go wrong with wearing your favorite skirt. Even if you decide to go for a preppy flirty mini, a classic midi or a glamorous maxi, you will most definitely make a statement. The skirts of summer 2011 are all about color and feminine silhouettes. Be bold enough to wear them or at least give them a go. We have selected the hottest of them all.

Bold colors, prints and embellishments are some of the key elements of the 70’s style influence. The A-line silhouettes on the Coral A.P.C. and Missoni skirts are exactly what you should be looking for. Prints are very popular this all throughout the summer 2011 season and you can try all the bold colors out there such as vibrant green or electric blue. If you look for something more “high-glam”, J. Crew has a great example of what an embellished Seventies skirt should look like. Feathers and sequins will always create a luxe glamorous image.

Help Me Decide between these 2 amazing pairs of footwear that I like on Asos.com. I really love platform sandals right now and I cannot make up my mind between these 2.

Leopard Platforms - ASOS HEIST High Platform Sandals With Bow vs. Camel Leather Plaforms - River Island

They are both around 70GBP leather and suede, so the quality is kind of similar. What I think though is that the River Island camel sandals are more versatile and probably more of an investment piece than the Leopard Printed platforms, which are more fancy and kind of statement.

I really love how all these bold colors are popping up everywhere this season! Even if you decide to choose cobalt blue or vibrant green or choose this wonderful coral red, you will most likely create some smashing ensembles.

Lately I have been obsessing over this lovely mix : CORAL or RED, BLACK, WHITE and NUDE.  Katie Holmes does a very good job at styling this summer 2011 look.  Everything about her style is practically a must have for this season, starting with the nude silk blouse and accessorizing with a cool animal print bag and some awesome strappy sandals.

I also found some cool outfit inspirations on net-a-porter.com, that make the look very simple and easy to achieve!

Like in every bold color combination, all you have to take in consideration is the golden rule : wear with neutrals!
