The New Dresses

As spring has fully taken its right on the thermometer, we should start discovering the new pieces of this season. It’s warmer now and it’s easy to accessorize these fabulous styles. These dresses are poised to become a huge part of any spring wardrobe and you will that they are also very much figure-friendly.

The Shirt Dress

The first item that probably caught your eye by now is the shirt dress. Even if you like the casual shirt dress (Pacsun) or you choose a more glamorous cocktail option, the shirt dress can be a terrific option. I personally love the plaid one because it has a super casual style and can be worn with both flats and heels. You can pair it with a short, cropped jacket as seen on tons of fashionphilles. The cool nude leather jacket (Doma) is a spot-on style this spring and you could accessorize it with metallics.

The Floral Dress

Another hot key piece is the floral dress. There are heaps of gorgeous options out there and you can also play with the size too as both the mini and the maxi are stunning hot. I saw lots of florals in the shops and I couldn’t help noticing that some of them have really crowded prints. I don’t recommend you wearing a bouquet of flowers on your dress, but choosing something romantic and versatile. For example an artistic floral pattern might be just the ticket for a casual office look.

The material of the dress is also important as this is the thing that chooses the time of the day that you should wear it. Go for something opaque during the day, like cotton and  try to keep the sheer options for later at dawn :) If your dress is short  and soft transparent and you want to wear it during the day you can wear it with leggings or opaque thighs.

The maxi dress is easier beacause it practically covers you all up. I’ve seen it worn with Converse sneakers and cropped jeans jackets and they lookes relly cool. You can also match them with flips flops or wedges for a summer look, but we’ll get into that in a future article.

The floral print dress can be paired with black statement heels (Balmain - in the pic) and cropped jacket (H&M). The edgy accessories give this outfit a note-worthy look (sunglasses - Topshop, clutch - Miu Miu, necklace - Ann Demeulemeester).

The Tunic

This top / dress is poised to because a really big thing as it’s the most versatile of all of them. You can imagine wearing as a dress if it’s long enough or with shorts, jeans, or leggings. Some pieces of this outfit  are already on the March Hotlist and you already know all about the ripped denim trend.

There are tons of hot options in the shops, I especially love the tunics that have this houglass shape and are casual and sexy.  The embroidery can be cool on tunics and it gives them a bohemian chic look (Check out some Vanessa Hudgens styles).  If you can’t afford a glamorous version like this one (Calypso Juna smock top - Net-A-Porter) you can choose a simple tunic and then style it up with a skinny belt or some long necklaces or oversized earrings (these are Wetseal).

Make Your Outfits Fun This Spring

You can start taking advantage of  the spring weather and adjust your wardrobe with fun and playful items. Age isn’t a reason not to enjoy the Hottest Items Of The Season or to step out in a shinny new pair of ballet flats. The navy bag  is already poised to become a really important part of our wardrobes and you can easily pair it with the Nautical Trend that keeps coming back every spring and summer.  Mini Skirts are really hot this season too and even if you hadn’t considered a high-waisted option yet, I think you’ll change your mind this season. I was reluctant to try this trend myself but I love this beige ruffled mini skirt from 3.1 Phillip Lim . Bold colors can also work for this outfit, however nudes and pastels can never go wrong :)

The graphic tee and the silly cute ballet flats are the fun part of this outfit. I’ve found this website TopMax, that has some amazing Tees and dresses. This one is actually a dress but I’m sure that you can squeeze another graphic tee into your skirt to get the right high waisted look.  The Miss Marc Ballerinas are extremely eye catchy and they look so comfortable and unique. I think they really have that french style and can easily style up any outfit.

So, you shouldn’t worry too much about the accessories. and just go with something simple and casual. I loved this small bottle pendant from DAY Birger et Mikkelsen’s because it reminds me of that movie “Message In A Bottle”… quite a story wasn’t it?

You can wear a short leather jacket or something similar to finish your look. Remember, short is the new lenght for jackets this season :) and there are so many options in the shops out there, this one for example is from H&M.

1. Crazy hat - hot color of the season (left) or vintage Hollywood (right). You can wear a hat with a casual outfit too, like jeans and a graphic tee.

2. Ankle boots - Grey tones vs Robin Hood inspired.

3. Classic Coat -  The blazer look is easy to pull off because you can wear it unbuttoned and so it will mix with the rest of the clothes. Go for a longer blazer this season with one button.

4. The accessories - Opaque Thighs, Scarf, Black Leather Gloves and Statement Jewelry are the right way of looking chic.

5. The leather bag - big clutch or big tote …you choose!

I know you all have these things in your wardrobes, what are you waiting for?  :)

You’ve seen them….I know you have. They pop out when you least expect them to bringing a mouthful of fresh air and attracting all eyes. Sometimes they scare you, they shock and they mesmerize but other times, you wish you were like them : SHINING TRENDS.

It’s a mystery where do trendsetters get their inspiration, but they seem to be on top of styles everytime. It is said they don’t follow trends, they make trends and they lead. Maybe…or maybe they cheat :).

Here a few ideas to pick up some trend setter vibes.

TIPS:

1. Don’t become a copy-cat, try to show your own personal style. Wear things in a different way and create outfits that  balance your own personality and the season’s trends.

2. Get inspired from the fashion shows. You can know trends in advance and so you can focus on items that are fashion forward and that could be an investment for a couple of next seasons.

3. Visit vintage stores and choose items that fit the trends and your style, try on the craziest clothes because you never know what can be just perfect.

4. Create  cheap-expensive outfits with a few glam accessories and some basic clothing.  For example you can create a look with a simple T-shirt from H&M matched with some Louboutins.

5. Look for jewelry and accessories with unusual detailing. These items make a statement about you and show that you don’t follow the rules. Create a set for each color or attitude (playful, serious, in love)

6. Don’t wear the same outfit. Recreate the look with other pieces and accessories. Try to follow your mood and you’ll be inspired every time.

Best Outfits When Meeting His Parents

Hey girls!

Let’s say that you are at the point when you should meet your boyfriend’s parents. It’s stressful enough that you have to worry about all sorts of things like what to talk about and if they would like you, so I thought of giving you a few guidelines of how you should dress.

1.First of all, consider simplicity and charisma as your 2 best friends :) I know it has nothing to do with clothes so far but they should be the main starting tips.

2. You want to look fresh and well-dressed but not too glittering or eccentric. Don’t just forget about your style, but take it to a next level, a more serious one.

3. You need to give the impression that you’ve got good taste when choosing things so focus on accessories and try to let them tell a story about you (eg. some jewelry that was in your family for a long time or some special pins - they don’t need to be expensive but unique)

4. You should wear heels. I think you would stand straight and heels also make you make confident and aware of your qualities! I mean it!! It’s tested!

5. Don’t smile too much, don’t talk too much, try to say the right words. Answer questions or ask discreet questions if you want to know more information. Things should be relaxed, try to make them feel comfortable around you. Beauty products are essential here. Wear a classic perfume and natural makeup. Nobody likes to meet a faux-looking girl.

6. Don’t show too much skin. If you choose to wear a dress or a skirt, you shouldn’t choose a top with a big cleavage. Actually don’t choose to show a lot of cleavage whatsoever. Choose something with a classic cut.

7. Occasion is essential!!! Adapt your outfit for the time of day and location of the meeting.

There is the casual get-together where you would go out to lunch or for some drinks. Here you should try to wear comfortable and casual-chic clothes, improvise a bohemian look with a scarf or some hair accessories or try a nice look with some ankle boots and jeans.

1.  Handbag - try something large and suitable for day, this one is Chloe available on BBS 2. Cool Casual ankle boots - these ones are from patent leather Charles David Mingle 3 A nice special top. You can find a wide range of decent unique tops on Forever21 or Oli 4. Skinny jeans - black or something conservative, no pockets, no boot-waist, remember keep skin off limits :D 5. Choose a coat with attitude, go for plaids or something with a good fit and nice buttons.

The Formal Outfit is definitely a more difficult one. Here all the details count and you should be careful not to forget something.

The dress - You can choose a little black dress, or a more special dress. However, for evening-wear black remains a classic. The shoes - Select matching accessories and go for a beautiful pair of stilettos made from a silky fabric, these ones have a velvet bow.  Try to focus on quality of the pumps rather than on the price. The purse - should be a small clutch with a shinny look or embellished stones for an extra glam touch. The accessories  need to be discreet and matched with the attitude of the entire outfit. Choose vintage pearls or a pendant necklace.

Remember, parents have a big word on the way your relationship will grow, so you have to make a good impression. For more tips get informed here and here.

Kisses!

Shopping Spree Outfit

Feel comfortable and sporty while you hunt down the hottest fall trends. I like this grey-purple outfit as it highlights your playful side. Wear the colorful sneakers from Kidrobot and the plaid hoodie from Pacsun combined with neutral shades of gray on your jeans, bag (MyTheresa) or scarf  from La Garconne. Add some shine with a couple of pattern bangles from Nordstrom. That’s it, you’re good to go!
